Gov-funded hours

Headstart Education Centre is a registered charity and, as such, our aim is to provide affordable and accessible childcare and education to families who register with us. We will aim to offer families subsidies whenever possible.

Additional discounts will be given to families with three or more children attending Headstart. This will be 10% off the fees of the third fee paying child, 15% off the fees of the fourth fee paying child and 20% off the fees of the fifth fee paying child. All subsidies/discounts are considered based on personal circumstances and completion of the Subsidy Eligibility Form.

Families may also be eligible for tax free childcare (see below). All Reception and Year 1 families are required to complete a Subsidy Eligibility Form for us to check which fee structure they fall under.

Free 30 Hours Childcare

The government has introduced 30 hours free childcare for 3 – 4 year olds. To check eligibility parents would need to set up a government gateway account and apply on line using the website link at www.childcarechoices.gov.uk.

We advise that any working parent with a child turning three apply immediately, before the term in which they turn 3 years. Parents who apply late will miss out on a term’s free provision! There is also a phone support number for parents which is 0300 123 4097. If you need support from us to make the application please feel free to ask our Early Year’s Deputy, or our Admin and we will try to facilitate for you to complete the process in Headstart.

Please note: The full 30 hours option is not offered to children in Headstart’s Reception class. 15 hours of funded education remains available up until the age of 5 years in the Reception class.

Flexible 30 Hours

Any parent who wishes to take advantage of the full 30 hours , but does not wish to use it fully at Headstart, could consider splitting the hours between 2 settings, including Headstart.

Tax Free Childcare

The government has rolled out tax – free childcare for working families with children up to the age of 12. This could help towards t he cost of fees in our Primary Years Home Education Provision. Parents will be able to apply for both 30 hours and Tax Free Childcare at the same time by entering their details once via the on – line service. HMRC will check parents’ eligibility for both schemes at the same time. We advise all working parents with a child in our Primary Y ears department to apply immediately and check eligibility; this could help reduce the extent of the fees you pay Headstart for childcare.

To check for eligibility, parents would need to set up a government gateway account and apply online at www.childcarechoices.gov.uk.
